AFTERCARE

  • You can keep the adhesive film on for 3 days, unless: you feel irritation or an allergic reaction, water gets trapped inside after showering or the film starts peeling and reaches the tattoo. In those cases, remove it before the 3 days.

When taking off the film, peel it off like a command strip - pull in the same direction, not up and away. Removing in the shower with warm water helps loosen the adhesive. Take your time!!!

Once you remove it, whether at the 3 days or before, start the routine of washing it with a fragrance-free soap and only apple a light fragrance-free lotion (Lubriderm, Cetaphil, etc) until its 2 weeks healed.

  • Keep the wrap on for 4 hours after your appointment. Once you get home, remove the wrap and wash the tattoo completely with fragrance-free soap (antibacterial is perfect as well). Start the routine of washing it twice a day and apply a light fragrance-free lotion (Lubriderm, Cetaphil, etc) until its 2 weeks healed.

  • Wash twice a day with fragrance-free soap. Once the tattoo starts feeling dry or peeling, apply a very light, fragrance-free lotion such as Lubriderm, Cetaphil, or Aveeno. Use only a small amount - if the tattoo looks shiny, you’ve applied too much.

Keep the tattoo hydrated, but not moist or greasy.

Avoid any direct sunlight, if you do have an outdoor activity while its healing, wear loose clothing that will cover it - nothing too tight that will cause friction.

Absolutely no swimming, bathing, excessive sweating during the healing process.

  • Any fragrance-free soap, if its antibacterial thats perfect, can be used twice a day. Dial Gold Antibacterial Soap is highly recommended and even comes in travel-size options.

Any light lotion that is fragrance-free such as Lubriderm, Cetaphil, or Aveeno. Aquaphor or any ointment is too thick and could clog pores so if using it, apply a veryyy small amount. If it looks shiny, you’ve applied too much.

  • If using Recovery Derm Shield film, avoid sweating or working out while wearing it. Sweat will get trapped inside the film and the moisture could affect your fresh tattoo. You can do light exercise once you take it off, make sure to wash it afterwards. Excessive sweating could affect healing and risk infection.

Definitely avoid any sun exposure, submerging in any body of water like pools, ocean, baths. Heavy sweating or workouts that irritate the area. Any sort of tight clothings or rough fabrics, jewelry or accessories until its finished healing.

  • After the tattoo is finished healing, for most people thats around the 2 week mark, you can begin to apply sunscreen whenever its exposed to the sun.

You can resume working out and going to the beach, pool, etc.
